Pet Smile Month
September is Pet Smile Month and Summerhill is one of the 1500 vet practices across the country participating and offering FREE DENTAL CHECKS. A very high proportion of all dogs and cats have some degree of dental disease. Although inflammation and infection start in the mouth, infections can spread to affect the whole body. Nearly all dental disease is treatable, and so if your pet is affected, they can quickly be returned to best possible health. It is also worth remembering that the vast majority of dental disease is preventable, so come along with your pet for a free assessment, a goodie bag and lots of helpful advice.
Unvaccinated cats
Norfolk has one of the lowest rates of cat vaccination in the country. Not only are all these cats missing out on protection from potentially fatal diseases, they are also missing out on regular contact with their vet. By seeing a vet yearly (plus our free nurse checks 6 months after a vaccination), we have the best possible chance of picking up on early signs of diseases. The earlier we detect any changes, the earlier we can start treatment (if appropriate) thus giving your pet the longest and healthiest life possible. Remember each human year is equivalent to seven cat years, and there aren't many people that go seven years without some sort of health assessment from their doctor. If your cats are not registered with the practice or have lapsed their vaccinations, get in touch and we can get them back on track as soon as possible.
