June Newsletter- National vaccination month
National vaccination month
Summerhill is one of the many veterinary practices that is taking part in National Vaccination Month, this June. In the UK there are 11 million unvaccinated dogs, cats, rabbits and horses. Unfortunately as the number of vaccinated pets falls, the prevalence of many fatal diseases increases.
For the month of June we will be offering unvaccinated dogs and cats the chance to have a full vaccination course, for the price of a booster. This involves two injections and a full health check. Eligible dogs and cats must be 18 months of age or older and not had a vaccination in the last 18 months. For dogs simply book an appointment, but for cats you need to print off a voucher from www.vacinationmonth.co.uk.
Unvacinated rabbits will be entitled to two myxomatosis vaccinations for the price of one. Rabbits must be 9 months or older and not had a vaccination within the last 9 months. For rabbits as with dogs, simply book an appointment at the practice.
It doesn't matter if the second vaccination falls into July, as long as the first vaccination is in June then you are eligible for the reduced price.
Diabetes Advisors
Two of our nurses, Sue Scott and Stephanie Daykin have recently completed a British Veterinary Nurse Association Diabetes Advisor Course. This will enable them to work with the owners of diabetic dogs and cats, ensuring better monitoring of their pets's disease. If you have a diabetic pet and would like to take advantage of the nurses knowledge, then contact the practice.
